The University Technology Office (UTO) at Arizona State University seeks an experienced, dynamic HR professional to lead departmental People Operations with a human-centered approach, focus on service excellence, and orientation toward solutions.
Reporting to the Executive Director of Service Delivery, the Director, People Operations will holistically drive employee relations, onboarding, compensation, benefits, payroll, performance management, wellness, and belonging for a department of approximately 600 university technology professionals.
This leader will work closely and collaboratively providing issue-based problem solving and influence at all levels with teams across UTO especially executives; culture; creative and communications; analytics and intelligence; and business and finance.

$74,250 - $136,000 per year; DOE
Provide transformative leadership driving UTO People Operations from a policy and compliance focus to a human-centered, forward-thinking, service delivery focus
Build and maintain inter-departmental, executive, and business leader relationships
Execute on organizational and people-related activities from high-level priorities
Flexible and agile approach to personal, interpersonal, and leadership style
Engage directly and hands-on with the full range of departmental People Operations
Investigate, manage, and resolve complex, sensitive employee relations challenges balancing employee advocacy and departmental risk mitigation
Provide framework and lead efforts to develop and implement a data driven workforce planning strategy, and mature data management across UTO People Operations
Create and scale employee health and wellness programs and practices, in partnership with existing ASU resources, which include not only physical health but also the mental, emotional, and spiritual components which constitute the entire human experience.
Develop and implement practices ensuring diverse, equitable, and inclusive recruitment, hiring, compensation and a generative employee experience
Develop, improve, and evolve the UTO candidate, on-boarding, and exit experiences to comprehensive, uniform practices
Create monthly, quarterly, and annual goals and projections; keep C-level executives apprised of the progress; delivery quarterly briefings on People Operations
Ensure compliance with applicable laws, university policies, and industry best practices
Take responsibility for fostering culture, advancing our values, and championing engagement in all its forms -- collaborating across our teams as well as participating in UTO/ASU events and programs.

Assume or coordinate other duties as assigned or directed.
Masterís degree in Business, Human Resources, or related field and eight (8) yearsí experience in a related field three (3) of which is in a leadership role involving project and resource management as well as strategic planning OR, any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills, and abilities have been achieved.
Evidence of a professional (e.g. SHRM, HRCI) and/or post-graduate certifications preferred
Demonstrated interpersonal skills managing inter-departmental and executive relationships
Experience in high-growth organizations
Experience in organizational transformation, human resources consulting, and/or people practice development
Evidence of subject matter fluency across all areas of HR and people practices to advise leaders
People Operations or Human Resources experience in a university setting
Experience in modeling empathy, compassion and emotional intelligence
Experience working in a values-led organization, emphasizing diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging
Experience in helping foster a safe psychological space for all teammates where everyone can trust and thrive
Experience cultivating a stakeholder network
Experience in working with stakeholders to foster personal and team wellbeing
Experience developing a cross-company narrative that both informs and inspires
Experience in stimulating changes in individual, institutional, and corporate behaviors to create an environment of belonging
Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, keyboarding, and manipulating a computer mouse; required to stand for varying lengths of time and walk moderate distances to perform work.Frequent bending, reaching, lifting, pushing and pulling up to 25 pounds.Regular activities require ability to quickly change priorities which may include and/or are subject to resolution of conflicts.Ability to clearly communicate to perform essential functions.
